Magnets & Miracles was drawn, designed and programmed by Prathamesh Pai. That’s me. I am a freelance programmer and web designer/developer by profession, but I prefer calling myself a visual communicator because I love to tell stories through my drawings, designs and photographs.
As a rather quiet child, I loved stories. It didn’t matter if the stories were in a book, told by my grandfather or in cartoons on TV. I loved stories. I looked at people and places and made up stories in my head. I still do that and it is only recently that I realised that this is what I have been doing all my life and why I was so fascinated by the visual medium.
I used to draw since I was a child, but it is only in the last decade and a half that I started drawing seriously. My drawing style has evolved from a mish-mash of various illustration styles from the books I used to read when growing up, cartoons I used to watch on TV and the materials available to me.
Magnets and Miracles is my attempt to bring all the stories and characters in my head to life (on paper anyway). Most of the illustrations are original stories with original characters, but some of them are fan-art. I usually pick a topic or theme from different drawing challenge websites or sometimes just a random word or thought and think of a quick story or scene to illustrate.
In the near future I hope to also write short illustrated stories and post some of them on this website.
Interested in prints/originals or licensing my stories and characters? I’d love to hear from you. While I figure out how to best setup a shop for prints, please send me an email if you have any requests.
